County Building Control is an Approved Inspector, licensed by the Construction Industry Council on behalf of the Secretary of State in England and Welsh Ministers in Wales. As such, County Building Control is qualified to undertake building control work in accordance with section 49 of the Building Act 1984 and Regulation 3 and 5 of the Building (Approved Inspectors etc.) Regulations 2010.

We offer a client focussed Building Control Service, providing an alternative to Local Authority Building Control. We strive on our client care and our prompt and professional service; from plan checking to site visits, working with our clients throughout the whole building process offering advice and practical solutions. Our committed attitude and “ownership” approach is what sets us apart from our competitors and an appreciation that our staff and clients are key to our future success.

Obtaining compliance with the Building Regulations for modern projects can be a challenging process for designers, especially with modern open plan layouts and innovative construction materials and methods. Our team of expert Chartered Surveyors, Chartered Building Engineers, Energy assessors and Fire engineers are here to be an integral part of your design team.

You are not obligated to use the Local Authority to get approval, many larger construction companies and architectural practices choose to use the services of an Approved Inspector. County Building Control offers a professional, pro-active alternative to Local Authority Building Control, working with you every step of the way to ensure your projects are delivered as efficiently and effectively as possible. Architects, engineers, designers and builders benefit from consistent advice, regardless of project location.

County Building Control offers a free pre-application meeting with a Building Control Surveyor to provide advice on gaining project compliance with the Building Regulations 2010 and allied documents. A dedicated County Building Control Surveyor will act as your single point of contact throughout you projects, providing a prompt assessment of your Building Regulation application. We have found that our early involvement in the projects can save hours worth of design time, as any issues can be identified at an early stage.

For each project we agree a bespoke inspection regime, taking into account the key areas of inspection. Site inspections are carried out at the agreed intervals to ensure that construction meets the agreed design and satisfies compliance with the Building Regulations.

After each inspection a site report is issued which summarises the inspection, identifies what has been inspected, and highlights any queries. It is designed to ensure that all parties are clearly informed during the construction phase and gives an early warning of non-compliance so that appropriate action can be taken.
